RIYADH: The King Salman Science Oasis concluded its participation in the “Hour of Code” event, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

The event, organized in collaboration with the General Administration of Education in Riyadh and Microsoft Arabia, aims to foster a culture of programming and innovation among students in the Kingdom.

The event was inaugurated on Dec. 10 and saw the participation of over 1,500 students from different schools and educational stages.

The King Salman oasis organized this event as part of its programs to enhance the scientific passion of students and stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in developing a knowledge-based economy.

Participants were able to choose challenges in the Minecraft educational environment and then program their creative solutions for them.

Additionally, participants visited the scientific halls and interacted with the energy exhibits, life halls, the Planetarium, and the “Sanaa Space” in the oasis.

Allison Matthews, the director of the Minecraft educational program at Microsoft, visited the Kingdom during the first week of the event.

She praised the level of interaction between the participants and the richness of the experience organized for them in the oasis.

The King Salman Science Oasis has the mission “to inspire a lifelong love of science in everyone” through educational workshops, exhibitions, and galleries.
